Spanish technology consulting firm Indra Systemas has unveiled a software development center in Mexican state of Querétaro.

The Alcobendas-based firm says it will arm the Querétaro center will more than 250 software professionals, who will focus on developing aerospace technology solutions, besides catering to sectors such as telecom, energy, transport, infrastructure, and healthcare, among others.

Indra will double the size of its workforce in Querétaro by the end of this year itself, if the demand for digital transformation services increase as expected.

This is the company’s fourth software development center in Latin America and ninth in the world.

Developing technology solutions to a greater number of sectors was the major reason behind launching the office in Querétaro. “We have chosen Queretaro because it is one of the most dynamic states, with greater capacity to attract investment, companies, and talent,” said Julio Sanchéz-Rico, Indra’s director general for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Indra Systemas has been present in Mexico for more than 20 years, employing more than 2,000 employees across centers in Mexico City and Monterrey.

Its state-of-the-art cyber security office in Mexico City offers protection from online threats. Besides, it is one of the major technology partners for the country’s airports and airliners. Some reports say a third of the world’s air traffic is managed by the systems it has developed.

Mexico is the only country outside Spain where Indra has extended the service of Minsait, a business unit that deals with the challenges businesses face on their way to digitization.
