More than 74% of business leaders in Mexico view the disruptive nature of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, as a path to prosperity rather than a threat.

Nearly seven out of ten Mexican CEOs surveyed for the KPMG Global CEO Outlook 2017 report said they were continuously harnessing their technological skill as they want to remain competitive. Moreover, three out of four CEOs said they want be the disruptors in their sector.

Víctor Esquivel, Managing Partner of KPMG in Mexico, says technology has had its impact on all sectors and that business leaders are aware that ignoring technology is no longer an option.

“Most (CEOs) see disruption as an opportunity to transform their business model, develop new products or services, and make their business even more successful than ever,” said John Veihmeyer, KPMG’s Worldwide President.

In the survey, More than 76% of CEOs said they were confident of achieving growth in the next three years, with a few of them predicting that there will be a sudden demand for professionals with expertise in new technologies in Mexico.

“CEOs in Mexico are pragmatic in managing this uncertainty. They are betting on a strategy based on data, for the promotion of innovation and the digitization of the business, ” Esquivel added.

It seems certain that cyber security is a major concern for business leaders, with only 18% of Mexican CEOs saying that they were completely prepared to prevent cyber attacks. Also, about 40% of Mexican CEOs have stated that US President Donald Trump’s protectionist policies will benefit their organization.
