The geographical distribution of Mexico’s IT, software, and BPO talent makes the country unique. Very few markets have such an array of location options, with world-class talent in each of Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey ensuring great results no matter where you are.
But which location is the best?
It depends who you ask
In a recent survey by Nearshore Americas, the respondents were torn. When it comes to BPO, nearshore experts are really couldn’t choose a favorite: 27% picked Monterrey, 25% took Guadalajara, and 22% opted for Mexico City.
The remaining 26% chose “other,” highlighting that it is more than just the big three. Tijuana, Puebla, Cancun, Querétaro, Chihuahua, Mérida, and Hermosillo all received multiple votes.
The results were similar when it comes to software development and programming, although the top three commanded a larger percentage of the selections. For the best location, 37% picked Guadalajara, 30% went with Monterrey, and 20% selected Mexico City.
In addition to having various options, the geographical distribution also helps to keep costs down. In locations like Chile or Costa Rica, for example, the concentration of talent in the capital tends to push wages and other costs up. Mexico, on the other hand, has three major population centers with a long history of creating good work. And when you add this to the dozen or so other good secondary locations, the nation offers a near-unparalleled choice.
“Mexico is perhaps the only country that can rival India in terms of the ability to deliver the entire gamut of outsourcing services from three or more cities,” states the report. “The even distribution of responses is indicative of Mexico’s strength as a global BPO destination … Few others countries can deliver the full gamut of technology and business process outsourcing services from so many destinations. This is a key source of stability over the long run.”
