U.S. software outsourcing firm Svitla Systems has expanded operations to Mexico with the launch of an office in Guadalajara, the city often dubbed as Mexico’s Silicon Valley.
The San Francisco based firm said the Guadalajara office will serve as its nearshore sales and project management center, and that it is gearing up to take on board a whole new pool of talent.
“Mexico’s strong population of IT professionals in the workforce as well as new IT graduates entering the workforce every year will enable us to find the best talent for our clients,” said the company’s executive vice president Jorge Valadez, who will take charge of the Mexican operation.
Founded in 2003, Svitla Systems’ customers include the likes of Monster.com, BMC Software, Ancestry, Affymetrix, Ingenico, Logitech, and Stanford University.
Over the years, it has developed a working model called “team extension model”, under which its professionals work as a natural extension of the client’s team. “They work hand-in-hand with your team and utilize the platform, where you can easily communicate, contribute, and supervise throughout the programming process,” Svitla Systems stated on its website.
Time zone alignment and Mexico’s growing technology talent appear to be the major reasons behind the company’s expansion.
“Because Guadalajara is in the Central Time Zone, our North American clients can get in touch with us easily during normal business hours. Also, there are many direct flights from several major US cities, making it easier for our clients to visit us,” Valadez added.
It seems the time is ripe for Mexico to train more people in technology and capitalize on the shrinking talent pool in the neighboring United States.
Many talent-driven firms are turning to Mexico for tech labor. WeWork, another American firm – which provides shared workspace, community, and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups, and small businesses – has recently announced its plan to launch an office in Mexico City.
“Guadalajara offers endless opportunities to provide a talented pool of candidates and to deliver efficient software solutions seamlessly through our new nearshore location,” says Svitla Systems’ CEO Nataliya Anon.
