Canadian venture capital firm Alacrity has set up in Mexico City, with plans to invest 10 million pesos into 12 technology startups over the next 3 years.

The initiative, according to Facebook, will bring new technology solutions and services for local communities, besides helping the country widen its technology talent pool.

Co-founded and directed by Marcela Torres, the company uses a technology education program to hep with the employment of migrants who return to Mexico.

Known as AT&T Foundry, the center is the first of its kind in Latin America, but the sixth one the carrier has built in the Americas.

Known as startup factory across Mexico, InnoHub is headed by Raimundo Burguera. Among its managing partners are José Luis de Alba and Rene Torres, founders of ContPaQi.

Reports say that selected startups will receive US$50,000 in funding from Google. Unlike venture capital funds, Google will not seek equity stake in return for its funding.
